Hello! My name is Sarah and I own Samphire.

I am a qualified Interior Designer (Dip HE distinction) and also have a level 2 and 3 diploma in Soft furnishings from the National Design Academy.

I ran my own well regarded soft furnishings business – Sarah Clarke Interiors- from 2002 until 2019 when, despite its continuing success, I decided that a change of direction was needed.

During the course of my soft furnishing work, I began to make and supply fabric covered lampshades and (forgive the pun) it was like a light had been switched on….I completely fell in love with the craft and am now fulfilling my dream of selling my designs on the internet. You could say I am rather passionate about it!

An important part of Samphire’s ethos is to help reduce plastic pollution in this world of ours. When you order from Samphire, the packaging will contain NO plastics, only biodegradable products or recyclable card products. For full information on the specific packaging used, please go to the FAQ or DELIVERY pages.

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy perusing my products and hope that you will fall in love with some of the pieces for sale.

Why Samphire?

Why Samphire?

Well Samphire is a beautiful, rather unassuming plant which grows amongst the salt marshes where I live, and has a fabulous delicate taste when eaten raw or cooked. Once tasted you don’t forget it.

So for beautiful unforgettable lampshades and cushions, Samphire is the name. Why not?

I am a botanist by education (Plant Biology BSc) and plants will always be a love of mine. Eventually I aim to create my own fabric designs incorporating wild plants found in the woodlands, moorlands and marshes of the UK, and the beautiful vibrant colourful plants of the Tropics. These will be exclusive and designed specifically for my lampshades and cushions. Watch this space…
